Contrasts
I am going to be looking at people's opinion of an image when faces are removed. I am hoping to find contrasts between the opinions I collect. I am struggling with how I am going to present this. I am thinking about having a series of photos and each photo will have one opinion written underneath. thoughts please. X

First things .... are the images without faces your images? How are they styled? Where are they photographed? How are the faces removed? Photoshoped - soft/blur? Motion Blur? Are they scratched out on the print after its been printed (that becomes a violent action, how does that change the opinion)? Is it the same image with the face removed 10 different ways? Is it the same person photographed 10 different ways with the same technique used to remove the image? All of these are factors that will influence the audience so think about how much control you are taking. Then lets play around with how to collect the answers ... maybe they are only allowed to write one word, or one sentence. Then how to present .... writing on the image? Next to the image? Typed answers or hand written?

I have now decided that my images will be in black and white, with the faces scratched out after they are printed.
ReplyDeleteI will be asking my friends to each write one word about the photo (the first word that comes to them). I will display my photos with the word hand written at the bottom (I will choose which words out of the number I collect).
I will be doing a series of 6-8 photos with the same person but doing different things. I will try and photograph everyday activities and see how opinion is changed due to the face being removed.
