Contrast - (Unsurprisingly) Black and White

The style I'll be investigating for this project is unnatural(?) lightings, as seen in above images by alternative brand H Naoto.
The backgrounds, especially the clouds, seem to be very gloomy and heavy; while the lighting on the model is very energetic and bright. As I have zero knowledge in lightings, I will have to learn more about it to prepare for the real thing.
My idea is to shoot two images, somewhere between portraits and fashion shoot. One in black clothing standing against somewhere light; and another one in a white Lolita dress in front of relatively dark and gloomy background. Although the styles are not mainstream, they are not bizarre. I won't scare you guys.
As I have the clothes and (sort of) know what I want, I think I would be my own model and try working with tripods.

  1. This is great and I think that by you being your own model as you will be able to control the schedule and style/image of your series. Don't make it too hard by trying to do too much. Chose a few locations and work with that.
